Separate Bedrooms-Do You Snore?

Separate Bedrooms, Separate Lives

While sometimes the subject of jokes, snoring if often no laughing matter.  When one member of a couple snores, it can cause the other spouse to lose important sleep and even cause one partner to sleep in a separate room.  Studies have shown that this can lead to increased arguments, loss of intimacy and resentment.

In my Sammamish dental office, many of my patients report that they or their partner snore.  In addition to being disruptive, snoring indicates a deeper health issue of airway obstruction or even sleep apnea.  Patients with untreated apnea may begin to notice subtle health changes, weight gain around their middle, high blood pressure and eventually even diabetes.  Do your spouse a favor.  Instead of changing rooms or making jokes, protect your partner and recommend a dental airway evaluation.  Something as simple as a dental sleep appliance can support your marriage and your spouse’s health!
