Dental Veneers

As you grow older, so do your teeth. Many things may lead to the deterioration of your smile, including grinding, chipping, injury, medications, and old age. Patients looking to change the appearance of their smile may benefit from custom-fit porcelain veneers. This popular form of cosmetic dentistry is used to correct a wide range of dental concerns, including the position and shape of a person’s teeth.

What are Veneers?

Veneers are thin pieces of tooth-colored porcelain, which are cemented to the front side of a patient’s teeth. Once in place, veneers recreate the look of the patient’s natural smile. This material is strong enough to withstand daily wear and tear. You’ll be happy to learn that veneers are very realistic and comparable to natural tooth enamel.

Who Needs Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are an effective treatment option for most patients. Dr. Fisher has transformed countless smiles with this innovative procedure. In fact, veneers are one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry treatments. Veneers can correct a wide range of cosmetic concerns, including:

  • Discoloration and staining.
  • Gaps between teeth.
  • Poor tooth position.
  • Shortened teeth.
  • Chipped or broken teeth.
  • Worn teeth from grinding.
  • Aging smile.
  • Improper bite.
  • Crooked teeth.

It’s amazing to see the results our patients get from a new set of porcelain veneers. This procedure makes it possible to instantly move your teeth without the need for braces or Invisalign. If you suffer from TMJ pain or a clicking jaw, we may recommend veneers to improve your bite and alignment. Even if you just want a brighter smile, veneers are the perfect choice.

If the patient’s natural teeth and gums are in good condition, veneers may be the best choice. This long-lasting solution will provide you with many years of a sparkling smile. Unlike tooth enamel, porcelain does not stain. With regular care, you can expect a lifetime of happiness from your new smile.

Process of Getting Veneers

kelley fisherIt’s possible to completely transform your smile with porcelain veneers in as little as 2-3 appointments. The process is straightforward, and most patients feel little to no discomfort during the procedure. Dr. Fisher will always go out of her way to make sure you’re comfortable.

The first step is a comprehensive evaluation. During this appointment, Dr. Fisher will review your dental records. She will ask questions to determine what you are hoping to achieve with your veneers. Once it’s determined that you’re an ideal candidate for the treatment, a custom dental wax is ordered. This will provide a visual of what your new teeth will look like.

During your first veneer appointment, you will receive temporary veneers. This is a crucial step in the treatment. These temporary veneers will give you a full picture of the look and feel of your new smile. Nothing is permanent yet, and you still have time to make changes to your veneers before the final set is placed. Consider this step your test drive. Dr. Fisher will go out of her way to make sure you’re 100-percent happy with your custom-designed smile.

A small amount of tooth material must be removed to make room for your veneers. Don’t worry, however, because only a negligible amount of enamel is removed on the front and sides of your teeth. This will ensure your new veneers fit perfectly and are completely comfortable from the start.

When you’re ready for your permanent set, it will be cemented in place. This ensures your veneers fully bond with your natural tooth structure. Your veneers will look extremely natural, and after a few days, they will feel like your regular teeth.

Caring for Veneers

Porcelain veneers are an investment, and you’ll want to make sure you properly care for them. We recommend that our patients brush their veneers at least twice a day to remove bacteria and food particles. Gum health is also important. Be sure to floss every day to keep your gums in the best shape possible.

Since veneers are very strong, you don’t have to make any adjustments to your diet. Feel free to eat your favorite foods. Before you know it, your beautiful smile will feel completely natural.
